pl 1987-1997 között 155ról 33%ra nőtt OECD vizsgálat:
"The great expansion in HE that took place between 1987 and 1997 – when the age participation rate more than doubled from around 15 percent to around 33 percent – was not the result of an accident on the part of the Conservative government (as some Labour politicians have claimed). Rather it reflected business pressure (including from CIHE) and a realisation that the UK had to become a higher value added, more productive economy.
These arguments are even truer today than they were 18 years ago. Our economy and society relies even more on developing well-educated people and on disseminating and applying knowledge. Yet the “more means worse” brigade remains strong. It has re-formed and taken up new positions on higher ground with the aim of preventing further expansion and if anything reducing current participation levels (currently around 35 percent for 18 year-olds, or 43 percent for those aged up to 30). With a sense of déjà-vu we therefore again enter the lists.
